Scream 2 (1997) is the sequel to the postmodern slasher that redefined the genre. Two years after the Woodsboro massacre, survivor Sidney Prescott is trying to rebuild her life at Windsor College, but a copycat Ghostface killer resurfaces and begins targeting students in a new spree. The film-within-a-film ‘Stab’ has just premiered, and the killer is using it as a playbook. Explores the ‘rules of sequels’ through Randy’s horror-theory monologues while delivering genuine scares, larger set pieces, and an escalating body count. Sharp, self-aware tonal blend of slasher horror and dark comedy.
